Humberside Student Union (Flyers Bar)

Humberside student union is situated directly on the main Cottingham Road campus and is open everyday at around 11:00am until 1:00am at the latest depending on what special night is being held. Admittedly it isn't the biggest student union in the world but it does have a good atmosphere and is generally packed to capacity on most theme nights. The staffs are generally students and therefore are always friendly as most people know or recognise each other within the club. The bouncers also become familiar faces and while maintaining order can also be a good laugh if you stay within the club rules. The student Union are constantly trying to arrange "themed" nights for students just to create something a little bit different. Some of examples of this are a Playstation tournament night, a toga party a bands night and the union also attracts some well known underground DJ's such as The Wiseguys. Within your first few weeks at Humberside you will find yourself spending a lot of time (and money!) at the union as special effort is made to make sure that "the freshers" have plenty of pre-arranged entertainment to get you lot talking and making new friends within the campus. Such events as Hypnotists, Viking nights and general party games are played to loosen everybody up. Wednesday night is sports night where all of Humberside's clubs meet up to discuss the days performances and to play a few drinking games to relax after those long hard victories or defeats. Entrance is free to anybody who has joined a sports club that is associated with the Uni. Prices for drinks are, as you would expect, cheaper than most other places in the city with a pint of lager costing as little as £1.20. Drinks such as Bacardi Breezers and Smirnoff Ice are also available at around £1.50 a bottle. Admission charges vary depending on what event is being held but generally expect to pay between nothing up to £5. The larger end of the scale when there are visiting DJ's and other events of a similar nature.
