Spiders Nightclub

Spiders Nightclub, situated just on the edge of Hull city centre on Cleveland Street, is a dream night for students who are looking for a very very cheap evening. The club has some of the cheapest drink prices that you are likely to find anywhere in Hull with a shot of whiskey or Vodka as cheap as 40 pence! While we’re on the subject of drinks it seems a good place to mention the vast range that is available at Spiders. If you want to stick to the dull normal drinks then feel free as all the usual draught beers are stocked as are all mainline spirits but where Spiders really excels is in its selection of cocktails. Don’t be surprised to find yourself going to the bar and asking for a Green monster, a Fluffy duck a Tizer and a Blue lagoon as these are just a few of the many cocktails which are on offer. All priced reasonably so as to make sure your student budget will cover the expense!

Admission to the club is £3.00 but with a Nus or membership card it is reduced to £2.50. Not a great saving admittedly but once inside the prices of the drinks more than makes up for this. The club is only open on Friday’s and Saturdays with the latter being billed as the Student night, however there is very little difference in both nights to be honest.

The music played within Spiders won’t appeal to all you S Club and Britney fans or indeed all you Fatboy Slim fans. Instead if you like rock music injected with the best Indie tunes then you can’t go wrong with Spiders. The Charlatans, The Manics, Happy Mondays and Mansun are generally played at some stage of the night and are all well appreciated, in some cases more than the heavier rock that is played.

The atmosphere in Spiders is one of the most laid back of any club in Hull. The chance of getting involved in a fight is minimal compared to most other clubs where looking at a person in the wrong way can cause problems. Admittedly the club has its fair share of oddballs due to the fact that it is so different from anything else offered in Hull but it all adds to the personality of the club.

Spiders was recently voted one of the top ten places in Britain to get pissed and its not surprising really after sampling a few of the cocktails and being part of the laid back attitude. If the music isn’t your thing then it’s still worth at least one visit just to say that you’ve tried the cocktails and I guarantee that you’ll be lucky to walk out sober.
